Canine and Able aims to improve the mental wellbeing of the elderly, people with an illness or disability, young people struggling with education, or those dealing with stress in the workplace by providing FREE Therapy Dog sessions within the community of North East Scotland.
Therapy Dog sessions have many benefits to health and wellbeing – from lowering blood-pressure and anxiety – to improving emotional states and encouraging social interaction.
Our sessions are volunteer led, but Canine and Able still needs to cover costs such as insurance, administration, fuel costs, human/dog uniforms, dog assessment fees, and of course the all-important dog toys and training treats! We also like to buy our volunteers the odd coffee from time to time as a thank you.
It costs between £30 – £50 for each therapy session (depending on location and number of dogs required). All of us at Canine and Able would be most grateful for any donation that enables us to be able to run more Therapy Dog sessions within the community.
